We have a photographer coming to this week's track session to take a series of photos including a few group photos.
So if possible please wear club colours. Also (according to the lady members of the committee) we should all have our hair and makeup done specially
Once again this year the Roberts family (with friends) will be organising a handicap series.
This years dates are July 11, August 15 and September 12. All dates are on Wednesdays so there will not be a track session on each of these nights.
There is a shield for the winner of the series. The series winner will be the first person home at the September 12 run who took part in at least one of the previous races.
If you did not take part last year you must come along this year, it's great fun and only a little competitive (as long as I win!).
Oh and if possible please wear club colours..
The first Leee Brant group trained last Friday. As promised this group trained at 9:15 minute mile pace i.e. within the promised 9 to 10 minute mile pace. All the faster runners ran in one of the two other groups.
So in summary Friday training meet at the Lookout at 6:00PM sharp for an hour's run, Group 1 - 7 to 8 minute mile pace, Group 2 - 8 to 9 minute mile pace and Group 3 - 9 to 10 minute mile pace.
Traqining will be completed prior to 7:15 so you still have the evening to enjoy with your partner and friends
Another great turnout at Shinfield with the weather slightly better than last weekend.
We were led home by Paul in a superb sub 37 minutes and Julia in an equally as good 41 minutes.
After this the third championship event Mike and Helen are currently heading the results, but there's still plenty of time for that to change.
The next championship event is Yateley 10k on June 6th. No on the day entries available for this event so get on-line now.
Shinfield, a BFR club championship event, will be accepting entries on the day (bank holiday Monday) subject to a limit of 800 runners.
The children's race has been cancelled.
Due to the weather parking on the school field is not possible so the organisers are appealing to everyone to car share to reduce congestion.
I need volunteers to hand out Forest 5 entry forms on the day; if you or a friend or partner can help please call me, my number is on the contact page.
If we're lucky we might see some blue sky and sun. If we're not then we'll still enjoy the training but will be just that little bit wetter.
Friday will be as normal meet at the Lookout for a prompt 6:00PM start. An hour's run at either 7.5 or 8.5 minute mile pace in two groups.
Sunday will also be as normal meet at the Lookout at 9:20PM for an hour's run in ability groups.
Monday you have the option of a training run at the Lookout at 9:20AM or running the Shinfield 10k which starts at 10:30 and is a BFR championship event.
Hope you all got your applications in ahead of the closure.
I entered the ballot at around 7:00 this morning and the system seems to be robust and working well.
Enter now - the chances are the limit of 125,000 will be reached sometime today.
Please remember one of the eligibility requirements for entry into the club ballots (both the helpers' ballot and the members' ballot) is that you can produce an original rejection slip for the 2013 on line ballot.
Good luck
Fantastic day with 18 club members completing the 26.2 mile London Marathon.
Ben led us home in an amazing 2 hours 56 minutes and was in the first thousand finishers.
Alan won his age group record in 3 hours 43 minutes beating the second placed man by just 16 seconds; Alan also set a new club age group record in the process.
Holly was first lady in 3 hours 45 minutes
and Chau got the most television coverage in the news coverage.
Finally many thanks to all the helpers at our drinks station and baggage lorries.
